1. The seriousness of lung cancer and the importance of early diagnosis

  • One in 16 people in the US will be diagnosed with lung cancer in their lifetime.
  • More than 228,000 people in the US will be diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019, with a new diagnosis every 2.3 minutes.
  • Lung cancer accounts for 13% of all new cancer diagnosis but 22% of all cancer deaths.
  • Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death, regardless of gender or ethnicity, taking about 154,000 American lives each year.
  • Only 21% of all people diagnosed with lung cancer will survive 5 years or more, But if it's caught before it spreads, the chance for 5-year survival improves dramatically.

2. The rapid spread and asymptomatic infection of covid-19

  • The number of infected people surpassed 20 million in 218 days. (2020-08-12)
  • 10 million people have been infected in the last 43 days..
  • The number of confirmed cases in the US exceeds 5 million, more than a quarter of the world's confirmed cases.
  • Approximately 40% to 45% of infections are estimated to be asymptomatic.

Lung cancer is the most dangerous disease in cancer incidence and mortality.

So, we need to get better at finding and treating lung cancer.

Since January 2020, when covid-19 first occured, the number of suspected cases and confirmed cases has increased rapidly.

With this rapid spread, asymptotic infections are possible, and the rate is significant, so it is necessary to determine whether they have been infected or not.

Therefore, 'AI lung disease diagnosis assist software' will help detect early cancer, nodule and covid-19 during CT image reading to increase survival rate and improve doctors' work accuracy and efficiency.
